Cold but fun, said Marco. Look at my hypothermic fingers said Mason. Running into you
said softspoken Luca. Silent but stealthy were Leah and Ellie. James softly called for his
daughter Ellie – where are you? Let us do the count again, came a voice from a distance
in the dark – Lindsey, the citizen scientist and our guide – one … two … six – that’s great
– paddle forward young scouts!
It was an evening of wonder infused with light bending and stories about earthquakes
and devils teeth with ghostly mist and tall trees – the green luminescence escaped the
dark waters upon the slightest touch by the hands and paddles of Mason, Marco, Luca,
Ellie and Leah as they kayaked from one bank to the other to capture the magic of the
Tomales Bay.
Special thanks to the parents who joined their scouts on this exciting adventure!
