Hello, Scott Lane!

(NOTE – We were able to score a campground near the beach in Point Reyes National Seashore in late March and are looking for scouts and adult leaders to join us. In order to hold our reservation, we need to confirm our group before March 13th so please sign up soon!)

We’re looking to go camping the weekend after school lets out right before Spring Break and have reserved a group campground in Point Reyes National Seashore near Wildcat Beach.

WHO: All T200 scouts and adult leaders with active registration including YPT and AB506.

WHAT: We’ll carpool to the trailhead and backpack a little over 5 miles to the Wildcat Campground. Once there scouts will have the choice to to take a hike to nearby Alamere Falls or just relax at the beach.

WHEN: Meet at OSLC at 15:45 on Friday 3/27 with carpools leaving by 16:00. Arrive at the Palomarin trailhead by 18:00 and our campsite by 20:30 where we will set up camp for the night. Leave the campground on Sunday 3/29 by 8:30 arrive at the Palomariin trailhead for carpool pickup at 11:00 and arrive back at OSLC by 13:00.

WHERE:  We’ll be driving to the Palomarin trailhead off of Mesa Road in Bolinas, parking the cars, and backpacking to our campsite. See the attached trail map for specifics.

REQUIREMENTS:  Scouts should be 12 or older and participants should be prepared to shoulder at least 20-30lbs.  Exceptions to age may be made with Scoutmaster approval.  Participants will need to have backpacks checked before loading into carpools so please arrive on time Friday.

PACKING LIST: Refer to the link below for guidelines on what to pack.

Scouts should pack this in their own backpack prior to arriving at OSLC Friday so that we can do a quick pack shakedown. Your backpack should also include some room for troop gear (e.g. tent, cooking supplies, etc.) so be mindful of how much you pack.

DRIVERS: We are hoping to be able to caravan all our scouts to and from Pt. Reyes within the cars that our adult leaders will be driving, but depending on signups and space for gear we would like to also secure some additional drivers who would either drop off on Friday or pick up on Sunday.
