We are backpacking two famous routes, the PCT and the TRT. The Pacific Crest Trail intersects with the Tahoe Rim Trail. These are two incredible backpacking trails that will literally take your breath away. The idea of this trip is to make it achievable for new or veteran backpackers. The route starts right at Donner Summit, and ends in Tahoe City. In the end weather permitting we can do a float down the Truckee river or even do the Granlibakken high adventure zipline course, its an amazing place to finish up, or we can hit the road. We have scouted the trails and there is some snow but its melting fast so it should be gone by now or soon. We have been in contact with the local rangers and getting updates. We cut down the route from 32 miles to 24 miles, again we want this to be attainable for anyone. Its going to be a great adventure.
Day 1, Heidelmann Lodge to Benson Hut which is near Anderson peak. About 6.5 miles.
Day 2 Benson to Five lakes will be a ridge hike and the longer segment around 9 mi.
Day 3 We are about 8.9 coming down and relatively flat into Tahoe City.
Day 4 Zipline or raft down the Truckee or go home if we don’t need this day.
